Special Olympics Instruction
The TPPC has been partnering with Hernando County Special Olympics to teach and coach some of their athletes to play pickleball. Two (2) doubles teams and two (2) individuals qualified to participate in a Special Olympics State Games on November 11, 12 at ESPN Disney.
The October BOD meeting was held on Oct 11 with several important actions discussed.
--Treasurer K. Powers discussed incorporation of the Club as a non-profit social club. The incorporation paperwork has been filed (on-line) with the Club name to change to Timber Pines Pickleball Club Inc. Powers and Hunter will be working on the details of this action, including rules needed and updates to by-laws.
--TPPC November Event Play Schedule - A Scheduling Committee was formed to finalize the November play schedule. Watch for some changes in courts and play times for popular events to enable more players to utilize the courts at the popular times.
--Lesson/Orientation sessions for new players are being held weekly on Monday from 11am to 1pm with the next one on Oct. 17. Sign up on Den.
--PARKING REMINDER: The courts are filling up at prime times (7-11am). This morning by 9am there were no empty car spaces in the parking lot. Golf carts can park on the grassy area at the north end of the parking lot to leave spaces for cars. Try to “cart or car pool” if possible too. All the snowbirds are not back yet so parking will continue to be difficult!
Donnie’s ABCD, Oct 12 – The rain skipped Timber Pines so 50 players were able to enjoy ABCD on Wed. night followed by a special treat--grilled hotdogs and drinks. Lots of pickleball, laughter and fun.
