It’s been warm at the courts but morning hours have been well attended. Make sure to sign up on the Den for the time and court you plan to attend. If you plan to play with specific members make sure to sign up on the same court to avoid confusion (e.g. Open Play - All Levels). Reminder: New event dates/times are available on the Den no later than Thurs. AM of the next week.
Notes: There has been some confusion about who is playing on particular courts. Please read the following to help clarify how the sign-up works:
--Being on the Waitlist for a court does NOT mean a player is automatically signed up to play on that court. It means if a player (1-6) takes their name off the list, the first person on the Waitlist is sent an email indicating they are now on the main list (1-6 players) for that court.
--Signing up for a court does NOT mean you can move to other courts to play unless invited by the players on that court.
--Players must sign up for ALL events they want to play in including Next Paddle Up. Players are NOT to move to other courts to play without being signed up for a specific court.
--If you sign up for an event and cannot play, PLEASE be courteous and uncheck your name to take yourself out of the event and let other players know how many to expect at the court.
Training Preview
A preview of sessions to improve pickleball skills of intermediate players took place last Saturday morning. Taught by Ken Krueger, the Advanced Skills event was attended by 12 players who practiced serves/returns, dinking, court placement/strategy and more--ending with some short games. Watch for this and similar sessions in the Fall. Enjoy playing pickleball while learning to improve your game at the same time.
An Orientation/Lesson will be held on the second Monday of each month in the summer from 5-7pm. The next Lesson will be Tuesday, June 13. This session will introduce new members to court safety, scheduling of court sessions and an overview of events. They will also have an opportunity to play a game with an emphasis on player positioning and rotation, scoring and an overview of the rules. If you know others who want to join the TPPC, membership forms are available at the PARC courts and can be deposited in the PB Box.
Saturday Night Cookout Special
The TPPC Pickleball Club is having a special Saturday Cookout on May 28 at 5:30pm at the Pavilion. We’re asking everybody to wear red, white and blue to honor all military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. What better way to celebrate than to have a night of Country music from the 70's thru the 2000's and pulled pork, our main entree, with attendees’ bringing their favorite side dishes, desserts, and appetizers.
Dig out your boots and red, white and blue attire and let’s show our patriotism. Fee is $3.00 per person and bring a covered dish. There may even be some line dancing (and, of course, Corn Hole)!! Feel free to bring a friend as well. Looking forward to seeing you!!! Yeehaw!!"
Employee Luncheon
Last May the TPPC provided a luncheon for all employees in TP to show how much we appreciate them. We will again be hosting a luncheon for all TP employees on Thursday, June 16, from 11-2pm at the Lodge Porch. The Club will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for all employees. If you’d like to volunteer for this event, please text or call Barbara Rooks at 813-727-0057. The following are areas where volunteers are needed. Please specify your area of interest to volunteer: set-up, line servers, grill master, contribute a specified dish to share, clean up, door prizes.
The next BOD meeting will be on Monday, June 13 at 3pm in the Country Club. Click this link to enjoy a complementary copy of the Pickleball Magazine.
