PARTNER TEAMWORK CLINIC

Our very own Paul Slay is going to present another free clinic for the Club on Sundays, March 17th and 24th. It is identified in Den as “PB Partner Teamwork." Each of the days, there will be four, one-hour sessions from 3PM to 7PM, on Court 2. The first hour on the 17th will be for Level A Partners; the second hour will be for Level B and C Partners; then repeat for the last two sessions that day. We’ll flip that order around for the four one-hour sessions on the 24th, first Bs and Cs, then As. Players must sign up as partners and indicate who it is in the comments section.

The sessions will focus on optimizing playing with a partner as a team. Content will cover partner communication, moving as a team, positioning on the court, recognizing and adjusting to maximize each partner's strengths and minimize any weaknesses.

Because of the way the Den shows the sign-up sheets, be sure to use the drop-down Play Type menu and select "Clinic." That is the easiest way to see all four of the sessions.

This sold out quickly, but you can get yourself on the waiting list or get your names in the Den ASAP for the 24th session.

BALL MACHINE

The ERNE ball machine is down. We are waiting on some parts to be shipped to us, and there is a potential we will have to send it back to the factory to be repaired. Good news, it is still under warranty. Given the circumstances, we are eliminating the Ball Machine Clinic from the schedule for now and the remainder of the season.

ANNUAL MEETINGS

In exactly two weeks from today, the Board of Directors will present to you the 2024 Annual Members’ Meeting, immediately followed by the Annual BOD Meeting. In the Members’ Meeting, we will be voting on a slate of new Board members – we presently have six candidates running for five open seats on the Board. We will also be voting on a proposed amendment to our Club By-Laws to reduce the term of office for board members from three to two years. You will hear from some, if not all, of our directors speak about the year just passes, and the year ahead.

A few items to be aware of …

  1. in order to constitute a quorum so we can legally conduct business, a minimum of 80 members must be physically present.
  2. Next, you have seen the biographies of the six current candidates, although the floor is open for any additional write-in candidates to throw in. (also repeated below)
  3. The proposed amendment has been circulated, and we have received no comments from the membership about it. Your Board of Directors suggests you vote “Yes” on the amendment. Still, the floor will be open for comments from the membership before the final vote is taken.
  4. Last, when the elections for directors is concluded, and a new Board is seated, they will meet immediately to elect the Board’s officers.
  5. Meanwhile, we are working out the details for offering a social for the members attending. Can’t promise you yet what or where it will be, but you’ll be hearing from us shortly. Stay tuned.

ONGOING EVENTS

A quick run-down of whassup at the courts. All recently added games/formats continue to be popular. The old stuff just keeps rolling along. Newest event is the old favorite, ABCD Paddle Play – come join in the competition like we used to do at the Lodge courts. D-level players have their own Skills and Drills, and they’re loving it. Play with Mentors is so successful, we have bifurcated (nice word, eh) it into one session for Bs and another for Cs. Due to a tournament taking place (who knew?), the next cookout is pushed back to April 6 – more on that in the weeks ahead. The Bash has been sold out (all tix were gone within 45 minutes), and looks to be the best yet. And I hate to mention this again, but we still have some folks who just can’t leave our First Aid boxes alone. They are taking especially the self-adhesive tape – but why? There are security cameras in place, and we will turn this over to Chief Bouthilette and his Deputy Dawg to investigate. Seriously, guys??

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Please see below the Schedule of Events. Be advised, with summer approaching (one can only hope) and attendance shrinking, Ladies Day will shut down for the season after March 28, and Mens’ Day after April 30. Thank you for participating.
