by Mel Kohlberg

Cookout

The next Cookout is Saturday at the Pavilion, 5:30pm. The theme is Independence Day. The menu is hamburgers and hotdogs. Bring a dish to share with 8 or more. Sign-ups were due by Thursday, 5:30PM, but if you’ve signed up and can’t make it, please take yourself out so someone else can try to fill in. Limit 100 people. Fee $5.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics Pickleball athlete training will be on Mondays beginning Aug 1 thru Nov 7, 5:30pm, Courts 3-4. Tom Asbel is the Board Liaison coordinating this endeavor. Any member interested in being a coach this year please email the Club BOD at tppickleballclub@gmail.com. Online training is provided and a background check is necessary. An initial coach’s training will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, 9am to noon, Cypress Creek High School in Pasco. If you are unable to make this training other options may be available. Coaching requires a good attitude and the ability to show athletes how to play and enjoy the game of Pickleball.

Ball Machine Training

As a reminder, we added a Thursday evening ball machine training at 7-9pm, court #3, for all skill levels, coached by Eddie Jensen. The next session is July 6 and will continue every other Thursday through the summer. Limit 8 players. Sign up in The Den, please.

Beginner’s Lesson

Another reminder, Tuesday, July 13 is the next beginner’s-level lesson, 7-9pm, courts #1-2. Sign-ups in The Den are being accepted now. Limit 8 players.

Holidays

Ocanada

July 1 is Canada Day, Canada’s version of our Independence Day. Wish your northern friends a happy day. And, of course, July 4 is coming, so proudly wear your colors.
