Pickleball Fix

TPCA BOD MEETING

Your Pickleball Club BOD wants to express how overwhelmed and appreciative we were of the membership who stepped forward and attended the March 4th TPCA BOD meeting, especially those who spoke on behalf of the Club. The strongest statement we could have made was simply showing up in Club tee shirts to support our Club. We still do not know why this is all taking place and are waiting for the TP board to be more specific and clearer as to where it came from and why it is happening now? What are their expectations? Is Pickleball the most pressing problem in Timber Pines? It appears they are intent on fixing something that doesn’t seem to be broken. They have proposed a meeting of TPCA BOD and TPPCI BOD. As if…We are confident that although everything may not be perfect, something must be going right to have 1000 folks renew their membership, with more still applying to join every day.

ABCD PADDLE PLAY

By popular demand, we have recently resurrected ABCD paddle play. It precedes the regular 5:00-7:00pm ABCD Round Robin, and started Wednesday, March 6th at 3:00pm. To refresh memories, you place your paddle on a table under your self-rated playing ability … A, B, C or D. That way, you play games with people at your skill level. If you win, you go up a division. If you lose you go down a division. This will hopefully give you some competitive games. Our first outing this week was well received with enthusiasm. Come on down and join the competition.

SKILLS AND DRILLS - D

We are now offering a Skills and Drills for D-level players every Tuesday, 1-3pm, on courts #1-2, 8 player limit.

PLAY WITH MENTORS

There is plenty of room left for you to sign up for Play with Mentors, which is offered Saturdays at 1:00pm on courts #2 and 3. Appropriate for players at the B or C skill level. You play, they offer input. Who better to learn from?

COOKOUT UPDATE/TOURNAMENT

There will NOT be a cookout on March 16th as regularly scheduled. We are having a tournament finishing up that day, so most players will have been at the courts all day. The next cookout is scheduled for April 6th.

On the other hand, it is still not too late to register for the tournament or to volunteer to help. Flyers are available at the PARC courts.

THE BASH

The Bash is fast approaching. Please don't lose your tickets, because you will need them to get into the PAC. You will want to bring a few extra dollars to get into our 50/50 raffle. Also, for those of you who have tickets, bring your dancing shoes, it is going to be a good time! BYOB, but food is catered.

FIRST AID SUPPLIES

Just a reminder that the wrap bandages like the Coban can be re-used. Please leave in kit what isn’t used. Also, Ziplock bags are provided to use for ice packs, even though a few disposable ice packs are available. Thank you for your help.

Beyond believable, but true. Some first aid medical supplies (namely the above-mentioned Coban self-adhesive bandages) have gone missing from the First Aid boxes. There are security cameras at the courts, so gathering evidence that would point to someone is do-able. But whoever is the perpetrator … you gotta be kidding!! If you’re that desperate and that broke, come to us. We can help. Do you need a GoFundMe?

GET YOUR GLASS OVER HERE

We are in search of clear wine or liquor bottles in the 750ML size. We are using these for decorations for the Bash, so drink up and save for us your empties, or if you don’t drink, you are welcome to bring us full bottles as long as they are clear! We’ll take care of the unused contents. Bottles can be dropped off at Kathie Cocchi’s house, Summerwood Court. If you have some but can’t do the drop off, contact Diane Beaudoin and we’ll see they get to Kathie.
