PickleBallFix:July24,2020

The “Fix” for this week has a real treat from some of our TPPC Canadian members. Unfortunately, here in Timber Pines we have been unable to have our regular Saturday night cookouts since COVID-19 has closed down our Club events. The cookouts were a favorite with Chef Gino cooking and organizing them each week. For new members signing up, put the Cookouts on your Saturday night calendar when restrictions are removed.

TPPC Cookouts Canadian Style

Don and Jean Eagle celebrated the TPPC Saturday Night Cookout Canadian Style with 18 guests, members of the TPPC who spend their winters in Timber Pines playing pickleball. Pictures in the associated PDF show the good time they all had at the Eagles place at Yo Ho Lake, a lovely spot out in the country, about a 30-minute drive from the city.

Thanks, Anne Caverhill in the TPPC neon green shirt for sending the pictures so we can all enjoy your good time virtually. Click this link http://www.tppickleballclub.org for a video too on the Home Page of the TPPC Website.

Once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, members are looking forward to getting back to the Saturday night cookouts with Chef Gino’s delicious main dishes accompanied by the unique contributions of members attending each week and best of all the camaraderie among long time and new Club members.

Fun Facts: Summer Play Statistics Update from TPPC Webmaster Steve Fortin

Since court availability and associated play intervals were changed to adapt to the TPPC Summer Schedule on June 22, 2020, Den statistics are showing very positive court usage. From June 22nd through July 21st there have been 729 sign-ups to play pickleball in one of the available time slots. Using just simple math, this would result in about 24 individuals signing up on any given day (729 instances/30 days = 24). The number of unique players may be skewed slightly on a given day up or down, based on some people just showing up to play or those who may play multiple times in one day.

The top five individuals who signed up to play the most are:

Don Rooks: 59 Times Tom Asbel: 37 Times Lynda Conte: 29 Times Dave Dwyer: 28 Times Deb Peterson: 27 Times
