PickleBallFix:July31 ,2020

July has certainly flown past. Despite hot, humid weather and afternoon rain showers familiar at this time of year in Florida, new and seasoned players are signing up on the Den to play pickleball together. Continue to sign up on Den! If there are 3 on a court and 6 on another, join the group of 3 while you are waiting your turn. At the Courts players continue to keep their 6' distance and sanitize balls and chairs before and after play. Safety is important to the TPPC.

Welcome to all the new members. More than 15 members have joined since the Courts reopened. We encourage new members to come out and play. Seasoned members, please reach out to unfamiliar faces and welcome them to the courts.

An Event for Your Entertainment: Four (4) TPPC pickleball players are practicing diligently to play a men against women tennis match on the PAC Tennis Courts with the date yet to be determined. Both women currently play tennis in Timber Pines. Although the two men have not played tennis in many years, they have been spending time on the tennis courts to get ready. It should be a fun event, and some members are looking forward to being there to watch and cheer on their pickleball colleagues. Stay tuned!

A Fun Photo Game: Since some of the evening games have been rained out lately, this week the “Fix” has a fun photo game test for you to try based on the photos in albums from 2020 and as far back as 2016 on the TPPC website (http://www.tppickleballclub.org) that webmaster Steve Fortin has been keeping up to date. So put on your thinking caps and see if you can identify the event and the member(s) shown. Click the associated PDF for today’s Pickleball fix to see the two (2) photos of Club members participating in TPPC events. It's an easy way to get to know some of the events the Club normally sponsors each year and identify current and past Club players too. If you need help identifying the event or players, go to the TPPC website, click on Quick Links and then the Photo Video Gallery. The pictures come from one of the albums in the Gallery. The answers will be announced in the August 7, Friday “Fix.” Join the fun and keep thinking pickleball!

PARC Update: Site preparation is continuing at the PARC. Heavy equipment is leveling the surface and providing fill. The pickleball courts are staked out, and the contractor has started the construction process. All work is continuing to move along on schedule.

Until next week, be safe and keep thinking pickleball, Marie Knowlton, TPPCP
