PickleBall Fix: April2 ,2021

This has been a busy week with lots of special events. Thanks to all members who attended the Annual Members’ Meeting on March 31 and to those who signed up as volunteers. The Club appreciates your support!

TPPC Annual Members’ Meeting Recap

The TPPC Annual Members’ Meeting was held at the PAC at 1pm on Wednesday, March 31 with 140 members in attendance. All members received ballots to vote for the 9 member slate of Directors when they signed in. President Knowlton called the meeting to order and Nominations Committee Chair Thayer explained the balloting procedure. The meeting continued while the ballots were counted. All Club officers provided updates, and guests TP President Mike Murphy and General Manager Sibbring answered member questions about the PARC courts.

Meeting of Elected Directors. A meeting of the new Directors was held after the Members Meeting. Officers were elected for 2021: President – Knowlton, VP – Howard, Treasurer – Dwyer, Secretary - Communications – Crane. Terms were also voted on by the Directors: 3-year terms – Knowlton, Dwyer, Rooks; 2-year terms – Crane, Ellingson, and 1-year term – Asbel, Howard.

--Cookout/Pickleball. At 3pm a cookout for all members was held at the Lodge Courts, followed by Donny’s early and late social pickleball sessions attended by more than 70 players. Thanks to Donny and Barb Rooks and her volunteers for helping serve all of the hungry pickleball players and guests. --Celebration of Life for Gene Long. At 4:30pm Deb Howard conducted a celebration of life for member Gene Long who had passed in December. Gene’s son, daughter, and daughter-in-law spoke in his honor and Howard read a message on behalf of his wife Bonnie. Friends also provided their memories. Howard concluded the celebration with a prayer.

So much packed into one day—a day full of Club business, food/drink and camaraderie, honoring a loved Club member and lots of pickleball—a great day for all!

--April Schedule Change. Due to a scheduling error, the Thursday 9-11 slot on Den is being changed as the courts are reserved for tennis from 8:30 to 10:00am on Thursdays. All players already signed up for the incorrect time have been notified. Please reschedule. Sorry for the inconvenience. Can’t wait for the new courts! --Donny’s April 7 Wednesday Nite Social Events at 3 and 5pm will have the traditional ABCD format the same as occurred on March 31. Paddles are placed on the tables for A BC D levels. Four members play together, winners move up a letter and losers move down a letter. Sign-up on Den is still required.

Ladies Getaway 2022. The Ladies Getaway 2022 to be held on January 31-February 4, 2022 at Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie along with the Lucy Kitcher Pickleball Clinic is full with 40 participants.

If other ladies want to attend, there is an option to reserve more rooms for the resort only. The cost is $679 double occupancy. You are invited to watch the clinic, attend the cocktail party, and take advantage of discounts throughout the resort. Transportation is to be determined.
