PickleBall Fix: June 18, 2021

Play on the PARC Courts Update

The Timber Pines BOD met on Wed., June 16 and announced that a final inspection on the pickleball site would be completed sometime this week. Upon approval, a permit would be issued so that the PARC pickleball courts could open for play. As of Friday 1pm the Club received word that the courts will NOT open this weekend and as yet the exact day for opening, hopefully this week, is not set. Once we hear from TP management, all members will receive an email with the details of the opening. In anticipation of the change, the Den sign-up sheets are listed as PARC for each entry. We’re getting very close!!

The current June schedule will be in effect so continue to sign up on the Den for Court/Day/ Date/Time you wish to play on Courts 1-6. If you are already signed up for play time in Den, no changes are required.

Weekly News

Two more new members joined the Pickleball Club this week, bringing the total membership to 717! Current TPPC membership forms are also available in the Lodge Library in a drawer that contains folders for TP Clubs, located next to the copier.

We had some heavy rains this week but still managed to get in a good number of pickleball games and our Saturday Night Cookout.

--Saturday Cookouts. Chef Gino’s sausage and peppers was very popular this past Sat. night for the 45 attendees. Our second guest Chefs Pam and Tom Asbel will be providing Sloppy Joes/buns for this Sat. June 19 at the Lodge Courts as usual. 40 members have signed up. Member attendees, please bring your contributions (side dishes, salads, appetizers and desserts) to complement the main dish! Again, thanks to all those members who volunteer: working at the sign-in table, setting and taking down tables, and helping to clean up afterwards. The Club appreciates everyone’s help to make our socials fun for all members!

Note: The Sat. June 25 cookout will be a standard potluck with all attendees bringing their favorite dish!

--Events Update. Although there has been needed rain, several events have still had high registration.

-Ladies’ Night exhibited a good turnout this week with 20 participants who played Round 1. Round 2 was cancelled due to storms.

--For most events just click the gray box next to the event at any time before start of the event.

--For Ladies/Men’s Days, and Sun night shootout sign-up/removal closes 2 hours before the start of the event. Cookouts close two days before. Lessons/Orientation close one day before. You can contact the coordinator of the event if the event is closed on Den.

Timber Pines Anniversary Celebration

TP is celebrating its 40th anniversary on February 7, 2022. A meeting was held this week, spearheaded by the History/Archives Committee at the request of General Manager Kevin Sibbring. Discussion included getting ideas of events to be held and setting up an Ad Hoc Committee to organize and direct this big event. The idea is to have participation from TP Clubs, Committees, and Villages throughout 2022 starting in Feb. until Dec. 2022. More information on this celebration will be forthcoming in the Fall from TP and the TPPC will be participating. Any members who would like to work together on a Pickleball Committee for this purpose, please contact Helen at tppickleballclub@gmail.com.

Watch for additional information this week on the PARC court opening. See you at the Saturday night cookout! PLEASE BRING CORRECT CHANGE!
