COOKOUT- Several members have suggested bringing back the weekly cookout. In an effort to be responsive and show that we are willing to comply, you need to help us out. The cookout needs a decent amount of volunteers willing to contribute their time and effort every week. If any member is willing to lead this charge or is willing to volunteer their time please email the board at tppickleballclub@gmail.com. A second option would be to volunteer one week a month and as volunteers step forward we can continue to add weeks. Remember currently the cookouts are scheduled for the first Saturday of the month.
The next cookout is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, featuring TACOs along with music by Charlie and Marilyn. Capacity is 100. Please bring your own beverages and a dish to share that could feed 8-10 people. When signing up – on The Den, please – make a note in the comments section of what you plan to bring to avoid duplication.
Did you all receive enough messages this week promoting the cookout? Did I say duplication? Sorry
SIGNUP SHEETS – The very active season is past, and there is no problem finding open courts to play on. That doesn’t mean, however, that we should stop booking in on the Den Signup Sheets. There are other purposes for having these sheets, as there is valuable data we collect from the sheets to analyze usage statistics. So PLEASE do sign in every time you play.
ATTENTION BEGINNERS – We have created some activities with you in mind. You’ve read about them here and in the TPCA Timber Times. Let’s review:
Next Paddle Up – designed specifically for beginners on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9-11am, on courts #9-10.
Lessons – scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, Thursday, July 13, and Tuesday, August 22. Each session will be at 7-9pm on courts #1-2. Maximum capacity is 8 players. Should folks be unable to make any of these dates, we will schedule an alternate date if at least 4 players sign up. Right now, June 6 session is filling up fast.
Skinny Singles – Although originally intended for beginners only, happy to say players of all skill levels are joining in. We hope to continue throughout the summer. Thursdays, 5-7pm, courts #5-8.
COMING SOON – Plans for a year of fun events are in the works. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months. We will continue with some of TPPC's most popular events such as the Bash, New Year's Eve party, and Saturday cookouts. We are also planning some new and exciting twists on some of our tournament days to make it a perfect opportunity for beginners to join in and have fun too, even if they are not secure in their pickleball skills yet. This will be a great time to hone your skills and have a fun day competing with others at your same level without feeling pressure, and socializing with all of your friends. (Even pickleball friends you haven't met yet!)
BE A NEATNICK – If you are the last one on the courts, please remember, when you leave the courts check them for items left behind, things out of place, whatever. Put all the balls in the holders. Our ball holders help protect our pickleballs from the scorching sun and heat. Turn off the fans. You can never tell if you are the last one. AND REMEMBER TO STAY WELL HYDRATED!!!
