Skills and Drills
A reminder that Skills and Drills coached by Deb Howard and her cast of thousands was recently added to the schedule. It was originally offered Sundays, 9-11 AM. It was looking to be popular, so another session was added Thursdays, 5-7 PM. Because of the overwhelming great response, the clinics have now been expanded to 4 courts each with a limit of 16 players, plus waiting lists. So we can now accommodate 32 players – plus waiting lists – every week. Designed principally for newer players still learning the game, to address developing skills and strategies and to practice shot placement. Think post-graduate work after beginner lessons. But anyone can join in. Sign-up in The Den under “Clinic”. If you sign-up and find you can’t make it, please, please, take yourself out so the waiting list folks can jump in. Thank you for your enthusiastic response.
Simon-X Ball Machine
Thanks to Eddie Jensen, we now have a working remote-control transmitter on the keychain for the Simon-X ball machine. As a precaution, when using the remote, a quick, one-second push on the power button works best. Holding the button down longer than that could damage the transmitter. Thank you for your cooperation.
Water, Water Everywhere
And now more to drink. Thanx to Tracy Simon’s persistence, we are about to get another watering station at the farthest (north) shade structure, just like the one at the middle structure. Be sure to use it early and often in this heat.
In the News
Nancy Amaro and Cathi Ellingson traveled to Madtown (Madison) Wisconsin for an Open Pickleball Tournament. They finished with third-place Bronze medals. Congrats!
Back at the Ellingson residence wayyyy north in Wisconsin, Ken Krueger stopped by during his big RV trip to lead a PB clinic for 28 lucky players who enjoyed experiencing Ken’s vast teaching skills. Thank you, Ken, for spreading the game wherever you go.
Special Olympics training sessions now have enough coaches. Tom Asbel serves as BOD coordinator, and he’s appointed Adele Angers as lead coach. Training begins August 1, 5-7pm, on courts #3-4. Come out and cheer on these amazing athletes and coaches.
