SATURDAY COOKOUT
The main dish for this Saturday’s cookout is pulled pork. More than 70 have signed up. Bring your favorite complementary side dish and enjoy socializing with your pickleball colleagues. Winners of last week’s raffle were Bonnie Schmink who won a pickleball bag and Karen Ellis winning a pickleball towel.
BALL MACHINE INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions on use of the new ball machine have been posted to the website

REMINDER: TPPC 2022 RENEWAL AND NEW MEMBERSHIP
2022 TPPC membership renewal will continue on Monday and Wednesday this week from 10-12 noon in the Main Room at the Lodge. You can also order TPPC T-shirts at the same time. Payment must accompany the order. Membership forms are also available at the Courts behind the Bulletin Board and can be placed in the PB Box.
LOCAL NEWS STORY ABOUT PICKLEBALL
The “Senior Voice,” a community newspaper for seniors 55 and over, keeps seniors in Hernando County informed on the latest news and entertainment. The November issue contains a cover story article featuring pickleball and Club member Claudia Carter. TPPC members Jim Vavala is the publisher and his wife Barbara Jean Olsen is Associate Publisher. Barbara Jean is well known for her baking of delicious apple pies on the cookout dessert table.

MJS FUN CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT
Mark your calendar! The Club is having a free “fun” tournament on Christmas Day starting at 9am in memory of Margaret Johnson Stevenson, a former member of the TPPC. Get your pickleball fix for Christmas. Watch for Den sign-up for the event when the Dec. Calendar comes out. Play includes opposite hand serve and dinking events for all levels. Find a Timber Pines Club member for your partner.
There is no entry fee, just bring a non-perishable can/boxed food to be donated to charity food pantry as your entry fee! Have fun and help others at the same time. More details as the time approaches.
COACH’S CORNER - RULES CLARIFICATIONS
Mel Kohlberg’s article in Coach’s Corner is based on play this year and questions raised. It provides some clarifications of existing rules such as how momentum can determine who is awarded a point, how to decide whether a ball is in or out, and information on the new “drop serve” initiated at the beginning of 2021. Your TPPC Board will meet this Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 3pm at the PARC. Regular BOD meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and open to members.
