Pickleball Fix

BALL MACHINE

People have been plugging the wrong charger into the wrong ball machine. So, we have color coded the plugs to match the machines.

Orange, green, and blue. Hard to make it simpler than that.

The ball machines all have color-coded plugs. Please match the colors to avoid damaging the machines

DIRECTOR’S SPOTLIGHT

We are featuring a new, recurring feature in the weekly Fix – the Director’s Spotlight, to recognize the many contributions made by your Board members in furtherance of the goals of the Club. This month’s Spotlight shines on Diane Beaudoin. Diane was voted onto our Board by acclimation in April 2023, to bring more fun and skills training to TPPC. She is a Cow Island snowbird summering on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee, and Mom to three Great kids. Diane keeps her schedule full as Board Liaison responsible for all play and social events of the Club. She has rolled up her sleeves as a volunteer since forever and, at especially TPPC events over the last 3½ years, since joining the community. Maybe the toughest task she has is rating and matching up all of the Wednesday night ABCD players. You can’t always get a perfect balance on play levels but Diane does an amazing job keeping most of us happy. We are thankful for all the Dianes in this world who volunteer to do the heavy lifting to benefit us all. Give her a big smile the next time you see her and say hello. She will surely return one in kind.

CHARITIES WE SUPPORT

Your Pickleball Club is an active supporter of Hernando County needy charities. Using funds generated from our monthly tournaments, our Charities Committee takes donation requests from our members and choses organizations they feel are integral to our community. This past year, the Committee identified seven (out of 12 requests) worthy recipients to support. They are as follows:

  • $100 in support for TPCA VETERAN’S CLUB golf tournament.
  • $500 each to CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY OF HERNANDO COUNTY, THE DAWN CENTER, CRESCENT COMMUNITY CENTER, KATHI’S K-9s, NATURE’S COAST HUMANE SOCIETY, AND SHERIFF’S WALK.
  • $1,000 to HERNANDO COUNTY EDUCATION FUND.

COOKOUT

Don’t forget this week’s cookout at the Pavilion. There’s still room for you to sign- up for a Taco dinner Saturday, December 2, 5:30-9:00, all for the amazingly low price of $5 American.

NEW BOARD MEMBER

Earlier this week we announced the appointment of John Dibert as our newest Director and Treasurer. Elected by the Board by secret ballot, he will serve until March, 2024 until our 2024 Annual Members’ Meeting. He has a strong background in Public Accounting as an auditor, and in finance and accounting in private industry. Please welcome John to our governing body.

LODGE COURTS

Not to be forgotten in our membership’s quest for more courts and playing time, remember we can sign-up in the Jonas system for use of the three pickleball-lined courts at the Lodge. These courts served us for many years as the only courts available – in “competition” with the Tennis Club players, who rarely used them, anyway. So, when there is an overflow of eager players at the PARC courts, and the waiting lists are filled with hopefuls, take your groups to the Lodge and enjoy the quiet of the area. The nets we always used are still there and ready for use.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Please see below detailing the many events we offer during the season. Times and court assignments are shown, along with maximum player counts, close-out times for sign-ups in the Den, appropriate skill levels, and guest policies.
