PickleBall Fix: July 16, 2021

Lots of heavy rain again this week especially in the late afternoons and early evenings caused a number of pickleball events to be cancelled. Looking forward to a few drier days and more pickleball! Thanks to Stuart Dienes and his staff for re-hanging the windscreens removed in preparation for tropical storm Elsa. The process takes many hours to reattach over 3000 zip ties around three sides of all 6 court batteries.

Weekly Update

Saturday Cookouts. More than 40 members attended the cookout last Saturday at the PARC with no rain and Chef Gino making his delicious pulled pork! At 5:30pm this Saturday thanks to our July guest chefs Barb Rooks and Bonnie Schmink, we’re looking forward to their great lasagna. Remember to bring your dish to share and correct change.

--Upcoming Tournament Reminder. Choose a partner and sign up on Den for the new Round Robin Tournament on Sunday, July 25 at 7pm. When you sign up, place your partner’s name in the comment field. Teams can be all male, all female, or mixed with a maximum of 30 players. Members only; no guests. For questions, contact Steve Fortin at 813- 455-8048 or via email at skfortin1637@yahoo.com.

--Membership Forms. Weather-proof boxes have been placed on the back side of the Bulletin Board in shade area 1 at the PARC. TPPC membership forms, forms for the January ladies’ pickleball trip and business cards of Board members are available. Place any completed forms in the PB box above the form holders.

--NOTE: The lights at the PARC automatically shut off. If you turn them on leave them ON!

If you turn on the fans at the Pavilion, please turn these OFF as they do not shut off automatically.

Board Activities

Welcome back to Marie Knowlton, TPPC Pres. and Deb Howard, VP, who were vacationing. Now they can try out the new courts! The TPPC BOD is meeting Monday on several items:

--Working with TP administration to determine play hours for pickleball. More information later.

--Continued work to analyze and adjust the member play schedule. Work on the play schedule for August is currently in progress. Managing 12 courts takes a lot of time, concentration, understanding of players, variety of levels, player opinions, time of day, temperature, length of play, to name some considerations. Steve Fortin, our tech guru, also devotes a great amount of time populating events on the Den calendar each month once the schedule is set and then making changes during the month when necessary. If you have an interest in volunteering for the Schedule Committee, please contact BOD president, Marie Knowlton at tppickleballclub@gmail.com.

Join the fun playing on the new PARC courts and working together with your colleagues!

Marie Knowlton, TPPCP, Deb Howard, VP, Dave Dwyer, Treas., Bev Crane, Sec/Comm., Tom Asbel, Cathi Ellingson, Don Rooks
