PickleBall Fix: September 3, 2021

The new September Pickleball Schedule started this Wed, Sept 1. Review the Sept. schedule for changes from August. Heavy downpours this week caused some play event cancellations including Donny’s ABCD Social event on Wed. night. Note next Wed. night ABCD is now open for sign-up. Let’s hope that rain picks non-pickleball times in the coming week so everyone can keep picklin’. Currently, the Club has 780 members!

COOKOUTS

Quite a turnout, 64 strong, gathered at the Luau Cookout this week hosted by our guest chefs. Thanks so much, Bonnie Morgan and Rosemary Lewis, for the delicious pork and chicken main dishes. Members also outdid themselves with delicious sides. Attendees joined the fun by dressing in their colorful costumes. Raffle winner of a pickleball hat was a thrilled Melanie Havekes and a pickleball bag was won by Gareth Lewis. Chef Gino is treating us to Eggplant Parmesan at this Saturday’s cookout.

ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT

The monthly Round Robin event was on Sunday, August 29th. Teams were broken into two pools based on skill level. Pool winners were Steve Fortin/Lynn Thompson and Marty Bachtler/Bob Dalley. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all partners who participated!

The next scheduled Partner Round Robin event will be Sunday, September 26th at 6:00pm. Grab a partner and sign up on the Den.

DEN REMINDERS

The following are answers to some Den questions that have been received:

--Event Waitlists Availability – Steve Fortin has supplied details about waitlists for different events.

  1. For self-directed practice, the player limit is set to 4 to ensure adequate space on the court for various types of drills and coaching. The Waitlist is enabled to allow others to request to join a self-directed practice initiated by another member. Guests are allowed.
  2. For Open Plays and Skinny Singles, the players are limited to six to allow for four people to be playing with two sitting out. This allows for ample rest without a long wait before playing your next game. Some groups like to play together so they can sign up six spots without a waitlist.
  3. Next Paddle Up and Partners ABCD are set to unlimited players, so there is no need for a waitlist.

--Removing name from sign-up sheet – If you need to drop out of an event you signed up for, click the gray box next to the Day/Date of the event. Your name will be deleted from the event allowing another player to sign up in your place.

--Listing a player’s events – To keep track of events you have signed up for, click Find Player to view a list of the events. In the pop-up box type your name or another player’s name and a list of all events the player has signed up for will display.
