Pickleball Fix

COOKOUT ON NOVEMBER 1st

The next cookout is on November 1st. We need someone to be the guest chef.

CALL FOR COOKOUT CHEFS

Pickleball Cookouts are looking for volunteers to be chefs to lead the pot-luck cookouts. Volunteer chefs decide what they would like to prepare for the main dish for the cookout. Suggested entrees can be Hamburger/hot dogs on the grill, pizza, fried chicken, meatballs, tacos, pulled pork, pasta, or one of your favorite recipes.

The social director of the Pickleball Board has many suggested recipes to share with our volunteer chefs. Also, the Pickleball Club has a storage closet at the pavilion filled with supplies, tables, paper plates, utensils, refrigerator, BBQ grill, all available to help you make your entree a success.

We have one cookout per month and anywhere from 25-100 people each month join in at the pavilion for the potluck dinner. People sign up on the den and attendees are asked to bring a covered dish enough to share with 6-8 people. As chef, you will be reimbursed for your expenses to handle the main dish for the cookout. We are looking for volunteer chefs for the upcoming months, please consider volunteering with your cooking talents. There are others who have done it before and would be happy to help you get it cooking.

Dates available: Nov 1, Dec 13, Jan 10, Feb 14,

If you would like to volunteer or have any questions please contact Gary Carlton

Can you give an hour or two of your time to make our pickleball events a success?

We need help for the upcoming Turkey Trot tournament, our New Years Eve Celebration, and our Annual Pickleball Bash and more. We need you! It is also a great way to make new friends and be a part of our pickleball community.

Please contact Diane Beaudoin if you can help. It can be a couple of hours working at an event, or helping to plan and organize one. We are in the initial planning stages for the New Years celebration. Come share your ideas for a fun time.

TRAINING AND CLASSES

Winter Season Lessons

Every year, thanks to volunteers the club offers free lessons for a variety of skill levels. Various classes for all levels of players will again be available this winter season.. A brief description of each class is listed below. Specific days and times are being finalized by the Scheduling committee and will be listed on the calendar.

Ball Machine - recommended for everyone wishing to use the ball machines. Learn the correct way to get the different machines on and off the courts. You will learn how to set-up and program the machines and operate them in a safe manner. You should download the ERNE Pickleball app prior to attending training if you wish to use the ERNE ball machine.

Training starts 11/6 and is on the 1st Thursday of the month from 5-7. Individual training can be arranged by texting Bill Lightfoot

Beginner Lessons - recommended for anyone interested in learning how to play the great sport of Pickleball. You will learn the rules and basics of the game including how to keep score, serve, return of serve, dink, volley, court positioning and safety on the courts. Learn what it means when a player is talking about the "Kitchen". This program will help you get started to enjoy the game of Pickleball.

Instructors Jo-Anne and Roy Bentley / Tom Asbel and TBD

Training begins 11/3 and is on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 7-9.

Get Past 4 - recommended for all levels of players. Did you know that in typical recreational pickleball, only one out of four rallies make it past the first four shots? Mastering the mechanics of those shots is important but knowing what shot to hit and why is just as important. The Get Past 4 Clinic on Wednesdays at 1PM is designed around the FOSS Approach. It is a top-down approach that focuses on the FRAMEWORK of the game, the OBJECTIVES for the serve and return side players, the STRATEGIES that you will employ, and the SHOTS that will allow you to extend those rallies and play your best pickleball. Players at all levels can benefit from a deeper understanding of the game. Please reach out to Ken Krueger if you have any questions about the clinic.

Training starts 11/18 and runs Wed from 1-3

Advanced Strategies Training - recommended for B & A level players - Lessons will include strategies for advanced play.

Instructor Brion Fahey
